About Amatikulu
Pet Products
Amatikulu Pet Products was established in 1994 on the Kwazulu Natal
North Coast, South Africa. It
was decided to locate our factory outside the sugar belt of the
beautiful Natal coast in community tribal land protected by the
Ngonyama Trust. Our rural factory is situated only 1 hours drive
from the port of Durban and 2 hours from the beautiful game and
hunting reserves of the North. Between lie some of the best golf
courses in South Africa and managing director Fanie Myburgh is famous
for inviting all new customers for a tour of our facility and the
surrounding area.
Zululand was traditionally a low income area with limited employment
opportunities. Today our business has helped alter the microenvironment.
We have expanded organically to the extent that our family comprises
some 150 people. Our management structure reflects the demographics
of our community and our commitment to training is reflected in
the improvement in the quality of our products and service levels.
Our
hide is sourced from Johannesburg, South Africa from free range
cattle only. Hides are kept fresh by using our last in first out
system; all hide is processed within 3 days of collection. Our wash
cycle is some 15 hours to ensure quality and palatability of hide.
Our practised staff can make 1000 rawhide bones a each day; these
are placed into our convection oven and baked at 60° Celsius
until ready. All of our rawhide is hand sorted and individually
packed to order. Rawhide has an extended shelf life but we are proud
to say ours is made fresh, germ free, and shipped within 20 days
of receipt of order.
